Apartment Mignon Just one road back from the Atlantic, our charming open-plan hideaway, Mignon, offers stunning sea views from your bedroom window, where you can wake to the gentle sounds of distant waves. This completely detached apartment provides complete privacy with dreamy ocean views, an ensuite bathroom, and a snug lounge area perfect for sipping local wine after beach adventures. Located just 200m from incredible rock pools and the gorgeous coastal path, Mignon is our cosy retreat. If you wondered about the name of the house, it means "Elephant" in Zulu. The house chose its own name - when we started building our dream house in 2023, while digging a hole in the back garden under the Milkwood trees, we uncovered a large bone, which we presumed was a whale bone, given the proximity to the sea. However, after some research and enquiries, the African Elephant Research Unit in Knysna confirmed that it was a pelvic bone of an African Elephant that had been here for hundreds of years! We immediately knew that we had to honour the Elephant that chose our backyard as its last resting place. The Bone now enjoys a prominent position above the front door. The two apartments are separate from the main house and were designed with privacy in mind and built for short-term rental. It's a cosy retreat designed to make you feel right at home from the moment you step through the door. Read more
